Deepl Launches Write, a Grammarly Competitor for AI-Powered Writing Assistance

DeepL, one of the best online translators, has launched a new AI-based tool to improve writing in English and German, and positions itself as a promising alternative to Grammarly, perhaps the most popular service of this type these days.
DeepL Write is the name of this powerful tool which, despite being in beta version, already presents several interesting features that could make it more than just a simple grammar checker. DeepL Write suggests improvements in syntax, tone, style and terminology. It can improve grammar, punctuation and even reformulate and complete sentences. In addition, the variety of options suggested by the tool ensures that you can perfect everything you write to your liking, without losing your personal touch.

To use Write, you need to type or copy text in the left part of the application and select the language you want to use as a reference to improve your text from a drop-down menu. Once you have text in the editor, Write will automatically show you the result. If there are any suggestions or corrections, they will be highlighted in the text. You can left-click on them to see the options available. For example, you can choose whether you want suggestions to improve a 'whole sentence' or a 'word'. Of course, you can choose to incorporate the suggestions into your text or ignore them. By following this process, you can review an entire text to improve your writing in the languages mentioned above. Note that the beta version of Write only supports texts of up to 2000 characters.

Some of these features may sound similar to what Grammarly does, but remember that Write is powered by the advanced neural network technology from DeepL and its increasingly powerful AI-based translation tool. This means that the AI writing companion should be seen as an interesting alternative to the increasingly popular ChatGPT, allowing users to use artificial intelligence to enhance their content in a more natural and personal way.
Jarek Kutylowski, founder and CEO of DeepL, says: "DeepL Write is the natural next step in continuing this mission and evolving the business. We saw a pattern of users trying to perfect their writing by translating back and forth in the Translator tool, and saw an opportunity to create a tool that would help anyone fine-tune their communication. We're excited to introduce DeepL Write to the world and further empower everyone from professionals doing business in their native or non-native language to students and creatives who want to perfect their writing with the right tools to improve communication".
